Dichotomy is the journal of the School of Architecture and Community Development, disseminating thought-provoking and relevant work by scholars, practitioners, artists, and activists in the field of design, architecture, community development, and allied disciplines. The publication is student-produced, archived online in the University of Detroit Mercy McNichols Library Special Collection (ISSN #0276-5748), and indexed in EBSCOhost. The journal is non peer-reviewed, but adopts a double-blind review process. It is edited by a student editorial team advised by a faculty member.
Mission:
Dichotomy, a student-produced journal at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture and Community Development (SACD), strives to be a critical link between students and the discourses on design, architecture, urbanism, and community development. Established in 1978, Dichotomy focuses on social justice and critical thought concerning intellectual, spiritual, ethical, and social development both in and outside of Detroit, with the goal of disseminating relevant investigations conducted by professionals, faculty, and students.
